Long service leave for Victorians

Every Australian state has different rules for calculating long service leave balances. This means we need to build a slightly different balance calculator for each state, so the other states are in the pipeline and will be released real soon. Promise.

Most Australian employees are entitled to long service leave after a period of continuous service. The qualifying period can be between 7 and 15 years depending on the state you’re in.

For Victorians, we built a balance calculation engine that caters for all the different little rules that apply. There are quite a few. We got them all. There’s even bits about phasing years of service at a rate of 2/3rds before 1st January, 2006 – I’m not joking.
